Paper Doll Giveaway!

To celebrate LAF’s re-launch, the Brookshire sisters of Noble Rose Press have donated two bundles of their beautiful “Daughters of History” paper dolls. Each bundle includes three sets of paper dolls, containing a total of six great women from history–women we love to hold up to our daughters as examples of godly, industrious femininity. They make a wonderful gift and will provide hours of enjoyment in addition to sparking good conversation about our foremothers!

To enter the drawing, simply post a comment below. We will draw two winners at random on Monday, April 5th! Noble Rose Press will also be holding a sale in honor of LAF’s re-launch, so be sure to check their Facebook page for details on that. This is a great time to pick up sets for birthdays and Christmas! [Drawing is now closed – congrats to our winners!]

  5. I love the idea of being a woman, and all that entails through the gift and glory of our Creator. These dolls would be a fabulous way to reinforce those values with my daughter. It’s sad to see the war on women going on today. Thank you for such a wonderful site that my daughter & I can both sit down and enjoy!

  13. First things first…Please pray for a friend I will be mailing a copy of Passionate Housewives to. Her divorce is due to be finalized on April 21st. I don’t know a lot of the details, but there isn’t any “abuse” going on and she actually speaks fairly highly of him. From what I know so far, he seems to be a really great dad (they have one daughter) and his parents adore my friend and his tearful mom actually made her promise she would still come around to visit after the divorce.
Anyway, I thought about reading your book some time ago, but didn’t for whatever reason. I’d also been on this website a few years back and have been thinking lately that I’d love to get back on since I really could use some encouragement in the homemaking arena. The other day as I was talking to a friend about what would be a good book to send this dear friend, she brought up your book. I read it and was pleasantly surprised to find out you were one of the authors. I knew as I read it for my friend that the Lord would also use it to help me, and let me tell you it did! The chapter about being a perfectionist really freed me (well sort of…I was up to my old antics again just a couple of hours after finishing the book, but my husband put a quick stop to it as I had confessed I to him I really struggled with that and he already knew that of course!) Anyway, I was brought to tears with your statement on page 153 where you talked about rejoicing when the laundry piles rise up and the dishes keep getting dirty. I feel so bad about the example of negativity I’ve set for my family. I don’t want them to feel unwelcome and on edge in their own home the way I feel when I visit my mom (I love her to death). Another thing that really impacted me was the poem to encourage you to “Do the Next Thing.” As a perfectionist, many times things pile up until I have a big block of time to work on it and I’ve accumulated so many of these projects, I haven’t known where to start. Finally, I never thought about the scripture where Jesus says that whenever we do something for the least of these little ones, we do it for Him! I always thought he meant “needy” people, but who could be needier than our own children? So, yesterday I walked around all day with newfound wonder that every meal I prepared and every mundane chore I accomplished I was actually doing for the Lord himself! And it really made me think that if Jesus had been born into my home and I knew he was God in the flesh, how would my attitude have been different about my housework? I think I would have gone about it much more reverently and yet Jesus is telling us that all that mundane stuff we do to serve our husbands and children, we’re actually doing for Him.
As a final note, I’ve been looking for a nice paper doll set for my daughter (our first one after five sons). I would be honored to have this one!
