What is beauty?

Some say beauty fits in a size 0. Some say beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Some say beauty is only skin deep. Some say beauty is only a quality of the heart. Some say beauty is truth. Some say beauty is a lie. Some say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some say beauty is as beauty does. Some say Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly are beautiful. Some say everyone is beautiful. Some say beauty is divine. Some say beauty is corrupting.

From all this confusion, one idea emerges clearly: The world knows beauty matters. They talk a lot about it, write poetry and paint paintings celebrating it, and spend $160 billion dollars a year on it. But what’s equally clear is that they don’t know what it is. The question is: Do we?

God’s Providence While in the Valley

Why Lord, Why? I could not believe this was happening. Haven’t I been obedient to you? Why is this happening? The pain I felt was heart-wrenching. I was scared and doubtful wondering if we had made the right decision to have the reversal and trust God with our fertility. I told my husband that we had made a mistake.

We had made the decision to have a tubal ligation because of the risks associated with multiple c-sections. All four of our children were born via c-section. I was not prepared for the regret and sadness that I would feel immediately after having a procedure that took my fertility away. I would cry and cry over the thought of never being able to become pregnant again. After much prayer and time spent studying God’s Word, we made the decision to have a reversal. On March 2nd, 2010, (2 1/2 years after my tubal ligation) my reversal was performed. Nothing compared to the peace and joy that I felt knowing that I was whole again. The Importance of Refinement

Refinement is the quality of being careful of manners and speech around others at home, in the church or the community. If a person is refined, they will not blurt out just any rude thing to others, especially to their elders. The quality of refinement helps you emerge from tense times or grim jobs with some dignity, and makes life easier for others around you. Continue reading “The Importance of Refinement”
